Care Instructions

To ensure your Turcooza pieces remain beautiful and soft for years to come, we recommend following these care guidelines:

When you first receive your Turkish towel, although they are pre-washed give it a quick wash before you start using it.

  • Washing: Machine wash at a maximum of 30°C on a gentle cycle. For the best results and to maintain the fiber strength, we recommend using a mild, eco-friendly detergent.
  • Drying: We highly recommend air drying your textiles. Lay them flat or hang them in a shaded area to prevent fading from direct sunlight. Avoid tumble drying, as high heat can damage the natural fibers and cause shrinkage.

  • Softness Tip: Pestemals naturally becomes softer and more absorbent with every wash.

To keep your fibers in the best condition, avoid bleach and harsh chemicals that can weaken the weave. Skip the fabric softeners as well—they create a coating that reduces absorbency over time. The best if to use distilled white vinegar / pure essential oil mix which is 1 litre vinegar is mixed with 20 drops of essential oil of your choice.

  • Ironing: If needed, iron on a low to medium heat setting while the fabric is slightly damp.

  • Avoid Bleach: Never use bleach or harsh chemicals, as these will break down the artisanal weave and affect the natural dyes.

  • Freshness: For a natural refresh, occasionally add a splash of white vinegar or a spoonful of baking soda to your wash. These help maintain softness, prevent bacteria, and strip away excess soap residue naturally.
  • Protection: To protect the fabric especially the delicate hand-knotted tassels, avoid washing your pestemal with items that have zippers, hooks, or Velcro, as these can easily snag and damage the weave.
